E-invoicing in 2027: sending and receiving without a project
What companies must prepare now, and how ZUGFeRD and XRechnung run without a migration project.
By Ocost · · 5 min read
Since 1 January 2025 every business in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. From 2027 businesses with more than €800,000 in revenue must send them too, from 2028 all of them. Prepared now, you avoid a last-minute project and automate your documents along the way.
What changes
An invoice between businesses must come in a structured format that meets the European standard EN 16931. A PDF alone no longer counts. The usual formats are XRechnung and ZUGFeRD, a PDF with the data embedded.
What to prepare now
- Make sure you can receive ZUGFeRD and XRechnung
- Check your suppliers’ master data and tax details
- Keep originals unchanged in your filing (GoBD)
- Make approval and booking digital
Ocost reads ZUGFeRD and XRechnung exactly, without a model and without guessing, and writes ZUGFeRD invoices from Selling. Incoming e-invoices are filed, matched to their order and delivery note and prepared for payment.
