Purchasing and contracts
Renewals and Skonto: where purchasing quietly loses money
How deadlines, prices and Skonto show up from the documents themselves, before they cost money.
By Ocost · · 6 min read
Most money in purchasing isn’t lost in negotiation but on missed days. Contracts renew by themselves, Skonto passes, and price differences show up only at the year-end close.
Three quiet losses
- Renewals: the contract runs on before anyone negotiated again
- Lapsed Skonto: the invoice was approved too late
- Price differences: the price on the invoice isn’t the one on the order
From documents to a date
Once every invoice, contract and order is read, every deadline stands with its day. Ocost puts a decision before a contract’s notice deadline, schedules payment for the last Skonto day and names each invoice above the ordered price with both documents, such as “€4.20 a piece above PO-2402”.
